Every question below was asked by a real caller on a recorded call, and every answer is what one of our crew said back on the phone, word for word. We give the caller's first name, or their postcode where we do not have one, and never their surname, address or phone number.
It's fine. We have a trailer called Heat Assault. It's a 600,000 BTU trailer that's built specifically to do heat treatments for bed bugs. It's a self-contained glycol unit which for simplicity sake just imagine a really big hot water heater out in a trailer and we heated up hot water to 100 and well it actually goes to 205. We run that through these hoses that go into radiators that are specifically placed throughout your home and then we use fans we connect them to the radiators the fans blow across the radiators disperse the heat in your home we put radiators in.
Answered on a call,
That's totally fine. Then you don't have to stress and you can take your time and you can get some help from your roommates or the guys in the home. So they will need to run those clothes through the dryer, put them in a bag. If they can put them away, just put them away. If they can, you know, but I don't know what they have, if they have a dresser, if they have a closet, you know.
Answered by Julie on a call,
Not typically. Usually it takes them about two to three weeks to kind of start multiplying at a significant rate. So again, it kind of depends on the infestation size. If you have a ton of them already, they'll multiply faster. But typically, I would say two to three weeks, it'll start getting worse and worse.
Answered by Chase on a call,
Because he is out, I actually asked our technician that's going to be doing a day job up in Toronto if he would out of the kindness of his heart do a double.
Answered by Dori on a call,
Probably Dory and Kendall. Kendall's no longer with us, but Dory is.
Answered by Mike on a call,
That just really depends on how you do your review.
Answered by Dori on a call,
This is our own crew, on recorded calls about jobs in Emmitsburg and nearby. Word for word. Each one says who was talking and when.
One garbage bag is empty, throw it away, okay? Do not use the same garbage bag to put your clothes into, okay? And then I would invest in a good vacuum cleaner. You can get one for under 200 bucks, okay? And then you need to vacuum everything in that apartment that cannot go into a high heat dryer. You vacuum slowly, you vacuum thoroughly.
Pest barrier so that if any... Any bedbugs cross that test barrier, they'll be toast. They'll die. We also spray strategically around furniture and like the backs of furniture, but we don't spray anything that will have continuous human contact. We also strategically spray around the beds in the home. Then we follow up with the heat treatment. So that heat treatment, like I said, we'll get the temperature up to about 140 degrees. We leave it there for about five or six hours.
The hoses attach to our trailer, which is the heat assault system, and on the other end in your house to the heat assault fan, and these blow that hot air everywhere.
A really good treatment and the couch gets, yeah, you come home and your cushions are all up on end. It looks like a poltergeist has been through your house, but it's just us, you know, but with cushions that aren't able to be removed. That's probably why they did not die immediately from the heat treatment. It's a slower death. Okay.
You'll need to just let them know in advance, you know, call them and say, hey, this is Luda. You know, tell them what the apartment number is. I'm in 208. I suspect that we have bed bugs in this apartment and I've already contracted a bed bug exterminator to come in and do a heat treatment. They're not going, I mean, it's rare occasion that they're going to have any problem with that.
950 would be $200 deposit and then 750 at the time of treatment. Now, if you go, oh my God, I only have 650, then we'll take that extra hundred and we'll put it on the payment plan for you, okay? We just want to try and get as close to that 50% up front as we can.
At 8 or 9 a.m. depending on what area our technician was coming in from because we have them going every which way, and we would need everyone out of the home. Any pets that you have in the trailer as well would need to be out, and we would promise to have you back. back in no later than 8 p.m.
There's lots of... There's lots of places where you can go pick up a new cat and somebody that would love to live in your house I'm quite sure of it.
Now I'm just waiting for it to text back just to indicate that because, you know, I don't want to waste your time because we are a company that only specializes in bed bugs. We don't normally treat your home for other bugs.
Legally we have to wait seven days. What could happen, which is very, very rare, with issues like yours, it's a new infestation, you don't have a cluttered home. But what happens usually with the two percenters, when they do have a cluttered home, they have a heavier infestation, they'll see a couple of drags, they've gone through the treatment, they're moving.
Let me see. And depending on work and how many people you have to deal with and pets and things like that, you know, figuring out all the logistics, preparing your house. We have next week the 27th through the weekend is wide open right now.
Money that we were out yesterday with our technician driving an hour and a half there and back and the couple of hours they spent out there, we decided as a company to just refund the money to him and to step away from the issue.
Now, when this started, when this started three months ago, can you remember if you got a few bites one night and then you didn't get bit for another? three or five nights.
Hi, this is Dory with Bed Bug Exterminator. We had a missed phone call from this number, and I was just calling back to see how you're doing and if I can help you in any way.
To put stuff in the garage. Don't be hauling a bunch of bags of clothes out there. But yes, candles, because you don't want to pull you don't want to pull bedbugs out of the house into the garage. But if you carefully put some candles and your fire extinguishers and all that stuff, the kids crayons, whatever, things that might melt.
My name is Julie. I'm one of the owners. You can talk to anybody here. I'm going to send you a follow-up text so you have, you know, the details. And then when you're there, I would suggest... If you could get us any kind of photo of any bed bugs or bed bug evidence you see so you don't have to do an inspection, we can just verify it right over the phone. You know, I want to make sure she has bed bugs.
You, like you said, you've maybe not seen the black spots from them, but maybe you haven't really been able to find their nest. I can't tell you much more over the phone.
That's correct. We've never had anyone come tell us that, you know, our electronics were destroyed or damaged or our furniture was damaged. And also we are bonded and insured as well. So but we've never had any issues with electronics or anything that's not in our checklist.
Back out there and we'll spray again. I mean, we'll go back until the problem is completely eradicated.
They can. What happens, especially if you are using sprays to try and stop the problem. Um, bedbugs aren't all out at the same time. They hide and so they want to feed and they have a three to five day feeding cycle. So if you had one bedbug in your home and you were watching him, you would see him come out one time to feed and then he'd disappear for three to five days and then come back out. So what happens? is when you spray, you may kill a few of them that are out looking for food, but the other ones are still in hiding and that spray doesn't get to them.

Quoted as bed bug experts
Reporters do not find us in a directory; they come looking for someone who does this all day. CNN introduces Allan as the operations expert at Bed Bug Exterminator, and he has been quoted by name in thirty articles across fifteen national outlets.
Community-focused service
Seven offices across Florida and Maryland, each with its own locally staffed crew. The office that quotes your job is the one that turns up to it.

As Allan puts it: once we take on your project, your bed bug problem becomes my bed bug problem. If it turns out not to be bed bugs, we say so and cancel the contract. That has happened.
The single best solution — Heat Assault
Heat Assault reaches kill-zone temperature throughout the house and keeps climbing, which is what takes out the eggs as well as the adults. Paired with a residual spray on every job.

Over the years, we have developed a clear process and plan that works no matter the scale of infestation. As time has passed and our team has worked together more, we have focused on delivering treatment and solutions for bed bugs that are proven to work. To do this, we follow a strict five-step process that helps us to prepare any property in Emmitsburg and beyond for the removal of bed bugs:
This five-step process means that we can, more often than not, eradicate all bed bugs present in your building in one visit. Instead of a course of return trips, you get a solution that is covered for a minimum of sixty days. Plan on the crew being with you for most of a working day: a full heat cycle plus the spray usually runs somewhere between eight and eleven hours, depending on the size of the property and how much is in it.
Heat only works if the whole structure gets past lethal temperature and stays there. That is a question of output, and output is a number.

Bed bugs die at 118°F held around 90 minutes, and 122°F kills almost instantly. We hold lethal temperature throughout the home.
Older housing stock means more cracks and crevices for bed bugs to harbour in. Rentals turn over faster than owner-occupied homes, and turnover is how an infestation arrives.

Yes. Emmitsburg is inside our service area, worked out of our Bethesda office, about a 83-minute drive away. We treat homes and businesses there, and the treatment is the same combination of Heat Assault thermal heat and a residual spray we run everywhere else.
Same-week appointments are usual. Because Emmitsburg sits roughly 83 minutes from our Bethesda office, a crew can normally be with you within a few days of the call, and the whole job is one visit rather than a course of return trips.
Treatment starts at an $1,800 minimum and is priced by the size of the home, with most homes landing between about $1,800 and $2,800. There are no per-room upcharges. We give you the exact number over the phone before anything is booked.
Almost never. Furniture is treated where it stands: heat reaches inside mattresses, frames and upholstery where a spray cannot, so it does not need to be discarded or replaced. We will tell you plainly if a piece is genuinely beyond saving.
Clearly, you are dealing with an infestation of bed bugs in Emmitsburg. Some of the most common signs that we recommend you look out for when dealing with bed bugs include, but are not limited to:
