Bed bugs die at 118°F held about 90 minutes; 122°F kills almost instantly. The residual product keeps working for weeks afterwards, so anything that arrives later does not restart the problem.

Heat transfer fluid is drawn from the unit’s 130-gallon reservoir and pumped through dual coil heaters to 205°F before returning for phase two. Output reaches 600,000 BTU/hr — roughly three times an electric system — which is what makes whole-structure treatment possible in a single appointment rather than room by room. A residual product goes down with it, per its label, on every job.

Live plants, candles, lipstick, crayons and deodorants; wine, chocolate and fresh produce; vinyl records, videos and cassettes; aerosols, propane and other pressurised containers; lithium-ion batteries; irreplaceable oil paintings and family photographs. We have a trailer called Heat Assault. It's a 600,000 BTU trailer that's built specifically to do heat treatments for bed bugs. It's a self-contained glycol unit which, for simplicity's sake, just imagine a really big hot water heater out in a trailer. We run that through hoses that go into radiators that are specifically placed throughout your home, and then we use fans.

We run the hose from the back of the trailer into your home and distribute heaters and fans into your home, raising the temperatures to about 140 degrees. Reason being is because it's a scientific fact that once the temperatures reach above 122 degrees, all bed bugs, babies and eggs die.

The technician will come into the house and he'll put fans and heaters into the house, and that connects to our trailer. And once that's set up, you will turn the trailer on. It has its own power source, so we don't need to plug into your power.

We spray the garage for you. We don't heat treat the garage. It's kind of like when your mom used to yell at you, close the front door. You're trying to air condition the outside.

You do not have to be there at the time when they're done. Of course, to let him in, unless you have a door code or a lockbox or a key stash or something. So once you let him in, you're good to go.

Normally what he does is he'll text you when he leaves, and he'll typically say, wait two or three hours before you go back in, because we want that heat to stay in there.

It saves your mattresses, it saves your furniture, it'll save carpet, carpet pads, it even penetrates your baseboards and your wall outlets.
He will prop up your mattress on some risers that he'll bring, to make sure the heat and the air flows really well all around that area. He'll open up all your cabinets and closet doors. He'll flip up your couch cushions and open recliners. He knows exactly what to do to get that air moving and the heat in every inch.
Then he'll ask you to stay out of the home for another couple of hours. That way the heat will start to naturally dissipate. It's still going to be hot when you guys get home.
